I have had viral meningitis in 1980. In 2004 I had the same symptoms along with pneumonia in both lungs, a fever of 104, migraine, photophobia, chest pain, neck pain and uncontrolable vomiting. Tests showed negative for spinal meningitis. It took almost a year to recover. I had recurrent bouts still not showing positive for menigitis, (Unknown diagnosis). The Nuerologist gave me a nerve block for the head pain which really did help.
Now last week in all of about an hour and a half or so. I awake with a screaming headache, fever of 103+, vomiting, chest pain, and shaking. I waited for morning and told my wife I needed to go to the hospital. At 0800 hrs, I arrived at Urgent Care and was immediately taken to the ER. I remained at the ER all day. I had many tests done. The spinal tap immediately took the migraine away, the test reults shower negative. My fever had apparently gone away. I was hospitalized for 4 days. All the test, (i.e.) MRI, chest xray, blood tests, and whatever else they did showed negative except for positive for a migraine and swelling. After the four days I was sent home and referred to my family doctor. After returning home, I remained bed ridden and took lots of vicoden for the head and neck pain. On my fifth day home I was scheduled to see my primary physician. I awoke that morning with a fever of 100.8. my head really hurt and my neck and shoulders hurt. My wife took me to the appt. The only thing they can figure is a migriane headache. My comment to all the doctors was "REALLY".
Today is the day after that appt. My head has random pains, i have neck and shoulder pain, when I turn my head from side to side I get dizzy. My vision is not normal and I am sweaty w/o fever. I have no choice other than to be here at work. I did get migraine meds from the doctor and we will see what happens.
*** anyone with similar symptoms and is there a direction to go. I am ready to leave the area for a real doctor in the city, probably UCSF or Davis.
