Aseptic Meningitis from IVig

Postby Joodles » Mon Oct 08, 2012 7:48 am

Hello

I have been suffering with aseptic meningitis for nearly 3 months, following IVig. I have been on prednisolone for nearly 3 weeks. I started on a low dose of 10mg as I have not tolerated steroids in the past due to an endocrine illness. The 10mg didn't help at all so the dose was raised to 30mg a day which helped a little, for a while but the improvement didn't continue. Also I found the side effects on that dose very difficult so I have had to reduce it.

I wondered if anyone else has had an aseptic form of this condition from IVig, that has continued for this length of time? I understand it normally goes in about 2 weeks, when it is a drug induced aseptic meningitis. As I have not had recurring episodes, just the one, I understand I do not have Mollarets which I have read about.

I just wondered if anyone has any other thoughts, or if there are any suggestions with something else I can do?
Many thanks
