Tristin James Hart

May 21, 2006 to May 24, 2009

Hi, my name is Heather Hart. My 3 year old son, Tristin James died on May 24, 2009 at 12:20 pm 3 days after his 3rd birthday. He went to heaven because of a disease called Pneumococcal Meningitis; strand 19a. He was a very healthy, happy and energetic little angel, so kind and caring of others. I want my story to be heard. On May 21, 2009 my husband, (James), Tristin and I were in the yard playing and gardening; simply just enjoying the warm sunny weather and our son\'s 3rd birthday. Around 5 pm that evening when we went in, Tristin laid on the couch and was very quiet. I was preparing dinner but something made me go over and feel his head. His temperature was 100.3. So I figured he was coming down with something and gave him a drink. About 15 minutes later he was \"burning up\" with a temp of 104.2. I had called to my husband, gave him over the counter pain reliver and called the MD. His temp only went as low as 102.7 even with Tylenol it still wasn\'t breaking. With no call back from the on call MD, after 3 hours I went to the ER. Now keep in mind my son was drinking and not lethargic, maybe a little weak but was walking around and did say he had a headache. By 11:30 pm his temp was down to 99.7 and he was himself again. A strep test was done and a flu swab, other than a MILD red throat he was sent home.I was told the headache was from the high fever. He laid in bed with me that night and when we woke up his fever up again 103.7 and had vomited a little. He seemed a little irritated and fussy so I took him to his pediatrician. There he did a head to toe assessment moved his neck back and forth without any problem and I explained to the doctor about what has been going on. He did a rapid strep ( negative) and the flu swab negative as well. My son walked out of the office and said I want to go home and I was told it was a virus and to bring him back if there were any changes. My son did not wake up Saturday morning and went to heaven that Sunday.
